In Wreck-It Ralph, video game characters are aware that they are video game characters. Their job is to go through the game's motions whenever the arcade is open, and playable characters must follow the commands of the gamers in the arcade. Once the arcade is closed, they go about living their lives, and some game jump via Game Central Station (the surge protector in the arcade) to visit other game worlds.

If you're okay with Vanellope recognizing your video game character and breaking a little bit of the fourth wall with them (or if you're not), please reply here and say so! By default, she will NOT recognize them as a courtesy to the mun.

This is mostly restricted to games you'd find in an arcade (like Pac-Man, Q-bert, Street Fighter, etc.); characters from RPGs and similar games need not worry.
